Central is one of the most exclusive restaurants in the world. Not only was it rated number 4 out of the world’s top 50 restaurants, but is also Michelin star rated and was voted Latin America’s Best.

That being said, fancy foods are not really my thing. I usually like to know what I am putting in my mouth or at least recognize its taste, appearance, texture, or name. All of this goes out the window at Central and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I ordered the Mater Elevations 11 course meal in vegetarian. And I can honestly say, it was an amazingly new experience and flavor explosion with every bite. Each course comes with a table art piece tailored to the region that the foods came from- based on the altitude of the ingredients (Peru’s altitude ranges from 0-12,000+ feet). Expect to spend around 4 hours here to really honor each course. There were so many ingredients and super foods in every meal that I would otherwise probably never get to try in my lifetime. It was the first time I felt that I actually savored and explored each bite rather than just appreciating food for a good taste and a filler.Needless to say, I HIGHLY recommend splurging here if you should find yourself in Lima.
